In 2012, Rey Hernandez was a former IRS tax attorney living an ordinary life when an extraordinary experience involving his paralyzed dog changed the course of his life.

What followed was a years-long journey into phenomena that challenged everything he thought he knew about consciousness and reality.

Rey began experiencing and investigating a range of extraordinary phenomena, including encounters with UFOs and apparent non-human intelligence, near-death experiences, out-of-body experiences, remote viewing, channeling, apparitions and other anomalous experiences. Among his reported encounters was a remarkable 45-minute experience involving a craft he estimated to be approximately the size of a football field.

Rather than viewing these experiences as isolated mysteries, Rey began asking whether they might be connected.

A Greater Reality brings together more than 20 PhD academics and medical professionals and more than 50 experiencers to examine the boundaries between consciousness, science and extraordinary human experience.

At the center of the film is a provocative proposition: consciousness may not simply be an emergent product of the physical brain, but something fundamental to reality.

If consciousness is fundamental, could phenomena such as near-death experiences, out-of-body experiences, remote viewing and UFO encounters represent different expressions of an underlying phenomenon?

The film does not ask audiences to accept extraordinary claims on faith. Instead, it invites viewers to investigate the experiences, question conventional assumptions and consider whether our current model of reality may be incomplete.

A Greater Reality is a feature documentary exploring consciousness and a spectrum of extraordinary human experiences that challenge conventional assumptions about reality.

The film examines what it calls the Contact Modalities—including near-death experiences, out-of-body experiences, UFO/UAP encounters, channeling, apparitions and other anomalous phenomena.

Rather than treating these subjects as isolated categories, the film explores whether consciousness could provide a common thread connecting them.

Kevin Layne is the director of A Greater Reality, a feature documentary investigating consciousness, extraordinary human experiences and the possibility of a deeper connection between phenomena traditionally considered unrelated.

As a filmmaker, Kevin approaches the subject through storytelling and inquiry, bringing together researchers, academics and experiencers to explore questions at the boundaries of conventional understanding.

Through A Greater Reality, he seeks to create a cinematic space where extraordinary experiences can be examined with both curiosity and critical thought.

Helene Layne is a filmmaker, photographer and producer with Xlerator Media Group, a Miami-based film and television production company.

A native Floridian, Helene studied film and television production at the University of Miami and New York University. Her work spans documentary filmmaking, television production and photography.

Her work combines visual storytelling with a passion for exploring compelling human stories and unconventional ideas.

As Executive Producer of A Greater Reality, Helene helped guide the film through production and post-production, working to bring together the film's diverse voices and create an accessible cinematic exploration of consciousness and extraordinary experience.

About Rey Hernandez

Reinerio “Rey” Hernandez is a former IRS tax attorney, author of nine books and Director of the Consciousness and Contact Research Institute (CCRI).

In 2012, an extraordinary personal experience radically changed the direction of his life. What followed was a years-long investigation into consciousness and anomalous human experiences.

Rey subsequently reported a range of extraordinary experiences, including encounters with apparent non-human intelligence, UFO/UAP phenomena and other Contact Modalities.

His search for answers ultimately led him to establish CCRI, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the study of consciousness and extraordinary human experiences.

Rey's personal journey provides the narrative foundation of A Greater Reality.
